IN OUR PARISH
FRANKLIN TO CLOSE:
St Mary's Franklin will close Sunday the 10th February in a Mass commencing at 9.30am and lead by His Grace, Archbishop Adrian Doyle. Fr Graeme Howard has accepted an invitation to be present and to concelebrate the Mass. Please let family and friends know that they are welcome to attend this historic, sad and exciting moment in the life of our Parish.
Masses will commence the first Sunday of Lent (17th February) at 9.30am in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ranelagh. Franklin Rosters will apply.
The parish is now at the point of organising those members of our community who are volunteers and who need police checks to have the paper work completed. Who needs one? Any extraordinary minister of communion taking communion to the sick in the home or in any of the various aged care facilities, those who are catechists in our sacrament program, or work on children's liturgy. Sadly, even if you already have a Police Check through another organisation or indeed the Catholic Education Office you still require a Check through the Archdiocese of Hobart. I apologise for the doubling up but it is the way it has to be!
EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT:
Sunday afternoon in St Mary's Franklin at 4.00pm and Friday evenings at 7.00pm in St James Cygnet the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for prayer, silent meditation and reflection.
Rite of Election:
You are warmly invited to attend the Rite of Election to be held in St Mary's Cathedral Sunday 17th February at 2.00pm to support those to be enrolled in the book of the elect by Archbishop Adrian Doyle. In our Parish we will welcome both Deborah Coad and Amy Watkins full Communion with the Catholic Church this Easter and during the Rite of Election they will be introduced and acknowledged by the Archbishop on this important step in their faith life.
The Archbishop will be in the Parish the 1st and 2nd of June 2013 to celebrate the sacraments of Confirmation and 1st Eucharist.
Reconciliation: 22 March
Confirmation: 11 April
Eucharist: 24 May
Ash Wednesday 13 February 2013 Mass times:
Programs are available at the back of the Church. For those wishing to join a group see either Mrs. Louise Burdick in Franklin or Sr Joan Cowmeadow in Cygnet after Mass for the program types available.
Men of the parish are warmly invited to come together for breakfast and some prayerful reflection. The first gathering for 2013 will be held at 9.00am next Saturday, 2nd February at the DS Internet Cafe, Main Road, Huonville. For further details please contact David on 62951221 or Jack on 62971619.
If you have a hymn book at home, in your car or handbag would you mind returning to the Church. We are short an enormous number of hymn books and it is becoming increasingly noticeable at Mass.
